"THE G-20 WELCOMING COMMITTEE INVITES YOU TO THE CARNIVAL!
This coming October 24 and 25, Montreal will be hosting some special VIPs! In response, the "G-20 Welcoming Committee" is organizing a huge street party to greet them.
The second meeting of the G-20, which is made up of the finance ministers and bank governors of 19 countries as well as the heads of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), will be meeting at the Sheraton Center Hotel in downtown Montreal. The meeting will be presided over by Paul Martin, Canada's Minister of Finance.
The G-20 Welcoming Committee invites you to help us welcome them. We will be gathering outside the Sheraton Hotel (1201, boulevard Rene-Levesque West) at 4pm on October 23rd.

Voici les dates des réunions de quelques groupes de travail du "Comité d'accueil du G-20"
- Action directe/manifestation: jeudi le 28 septembre, 19H30 au local DIRA de L'X (178 Sainte-Catherine est). On invite ceux du nouveau groupe agit-prop à se joindre à nous pour l'info sur les événements qui s'organisent. La journée d'éducation populaire est aussi organisée par ce comité.
- Théâtre de rue/éducation populaire: il y a une réunion dimanche à 13H00 au Café Chaos (sur St-Denis, entre Ontario et de Maisonneuve) pour écrire les textes du gala Miss G-20 (nous cherchons encore des comédiens!).
Il y a aussi une réunion le 4 octobre, à 19H00 au Grip Concordia (2130 Mackay). Cette réunion est pour écrire les sketchs de théâtre dans la rue, le métro, etc. On a aussi besoin de comédiens parce qu'on aimerait faire du théâtre dans les endroits publics pendant tout le mois d'octobre.
Le comité théâtre de rue/éducation populaire à beaucoup de projets mais pas beaucoup de temps. Nous avons des projets de capsules radio, d'un quizz, etc. qui n'ont pas encore été développées. Si vous avez envie de prendre en charge un de ces projets (ou d'en partir un nouveau), organisez une réunion et communiquez avec quelqu'un du comité et on vous donnera une liste d'appels des gens intéressés. Here are the upcoming meeting dates of some working groups of the "G-20 Welcoming Committee":
-- Direct Action/Demo Committee: Thursday, September 28 at the DIRA office of L'X (178, Ste-Catherine East). We're inviting people from the new agit-prop group to join us so that info about events can get organized. The popular education day will also be organized by this committee.
-- Street Theatre/Popular Education Committee: There will be a meeting Sunday at 1pm at Cafe Chaos (on St-Denis) to write the scripts for the Miss G-20 Gala (we're still looking for actors). There will also be a meeting on October 4 at 7pm at QPIRG Concordia (2130, Mackay). This meeting is to write the scripts for the street theatre sketches, the metro skits, etc. We also need actors because we want to perform the skits throughout the month of October.
The street theatre/popular education committee hat theatre/popular education committee has lots of projects but not a lot of time. We have the community radio ad project, the quiz and other stuff which have not yet been developed. If you want to take on one of these projects (or start your own), organize a meeting and get in touch with someone from the committee. We have the telephone list of interested folks. • 12:30pm Speak Out and Info Session Opposing the G-20 on the steps of the Redpath Museum (you should be able to find it by ear)
• 2:30-3:00pm Convergence of McGill and Concordia students at Roddick Gates on Sherbrooke.

• 4:00pm Street Party and Demonstration at the Sheraton Center (site of G20 Talks) With all Concerned groups and citizens of Montreal. Sheraton is at 1201 Rene-Levesque O. (metro Bonaventure)
• Bring your own makeup, noise makers, drums, puppets, placards, energy.
• 8:00pm a Popular Assembly will be held at 1710 Beaudry to discuss future actions and reflect on the weekend’s events.
Critical Mass
•5:30pm Bicycle demo against the G-20. Starts at Philips Sqaure in front of the Bay on St. Catherine. Will proceed to meet up with Demonstration.
